"Sisters gather, voices rise,
Strength in eyes, no compromise.
Skills they learn, rights they claim,
Orange women redefine their name"
The Orange Heart Foundation conducts regular community‑based meetings and workshops where women from low‑income, rural and marginalised communities—including those in urban slums and underserved neighbourhoods—come together to share experiences, discuss their rights, talk about health and safety, and learn practical skills in a supportive environment. Through these circles and micro‑entrepreneurship sessions, women are introduced to basic business concepts such as budgeting, simple marketing, customer relations and small‑scale product or service ideas, helping them understand how to start, manage and grow income‑generating activities while also building awareness of legal and health rights. These initiatives are implemented in local neighbourhoods, villages, and urban and semi‑urban areas starting from Delhi with plans to expand into more rural parts of India, and follow a low‑cost, scalable approach by using community spaces, partnering with local artisans, entrepreneurs and NGOs as resource persons, and relying on open‑source materials, practical demonstrations and peer learning.
Women are 50% of India's population but only 25% of the workforce. When empowered through education, skills, and rights awareness, they lift entire families – improving nutrition, reducing poverty, and driving economic growth. Without empowerment, 57% anaemic women and 33% school dropouts perpetuate cycles of disadvantage. Orange Heart's circles and workshops break this cycle, creating leaders who transform communities.
